As Chuck Grassley called Brett Kavanaugh ‘s second Supreme Court confirmation hearing to order, he was interrupted by multiple protests, even as he complained about the disruptions for yesterday’s proceedings. The Senate Judiciary Committee experienced a major meltdown on Tuesday between dozens of protesters and demands from Democrats for a postponement of Kavanaugh’s confirmation until the White House’s document dump on him could be fully reviewed. When Grassley tried to restart proceedings on Wednesday, he began by accusing Democrats of plotting to derail the hearings with all of yesterday’s conduct. “Democratic senators interrupted the hearing 63 times before lunch. In the audience, 70 people were arrested yesterday who were following their lead,” Grassley noted. “All probably very constitutionally prepared to do that. Doing what the Constitution says the right of freedom of speech. But we’re also able to conduct our hearing the way it should be conducted.” Even as Grassley spoke, multiple people were led out of the room as they screamed in protest of Kavanaugh, Grassley and President Trump .
